Day 10 at Market Street.....

A bit about Michael and I ( Peggy) for those who come to read this page….

Michael is a business owner of Classic Morris Restoration. He is a Door Specialist who refinishes wooden doors with an alcohol based dye that is simply beautiful and allows the wood grain to shine through in the design of the door. He does many other door services such as new door installations, door sales, unit install, jam install/tearout, weatherstripping and more.
You can find him for work at 713.294.1091, www.classic-morris.com and on facebook under classic morris as well as twitter.
His business has him traveling to the customer but his shop here in Galveston at Market Street will give him a place where he can construct his furniture pieces out of reclaimed wood and allow him to expand his ECO-Demolition business and a location for those materials ( let us know if interested in purchases I will eventually post on his website).
His hobbies include cars, furniture making ( our own pieces are so fun and awesome) , Volleyball, surfing and our dogs of course. He is really set on helping out the art community here by providing cheap or free re-claimed materials to use in their projects. He at times even builds for projects that they need help on.
He co-leads our church’s youth which is a calling close to his heart.
His family has built wooden sailboats over the years and we are hopefully pulling his dad into the use of the Hughes building where he can have a location to spread out and expand on his wooden sailboat building and perhaps start a class on it here on the Island as well.
Peggy ( me=) already known as the dog food lady….
I am a pet ( dog/cat and horse )nutritionist, focusing on nutrition in the holistic sense. I do delivery to the island and give FREE consultations.
I also own La Jai De Equestrian . An equestrian management business , from managing an entire stable to one horse, breeding and showing management, riding/training/etc. I do just about it all.
My own hobbies are cars ( thanks to my husband=) , horses, my dogs, my studying to always further my knowledge, photography, reading and I am hoping to get back to running and more into bike riding now that I’m at the Island. I have surfed but not since being back in Texas and I suppose I will play with a long board this summer but then again…I may just nap on the beach.
Oh and of course writing. And these days launching with my husband into Hughes on Market to turn this building into a spectacular home.
And coming up with hair brained things to do =).

Our move to Galveston Island brought us to Market Street and buying the Hughes building where we get to not just watch TV shows and read Dwell magazine and think “ that’s so cool, I’d dream of doing that someday” but instead actually doing it.
The upstairs 3000 square feet will be our home while the down stairs 3000 will be Michael’s shop ( mancave=).
We seriously starting with a fresh palate and one of our favorite pastimes is browsing through books and magazines for ideas and research. ( of course research is also a hobby of mine).
I will post in my next blog what condition the building is in now in more detail and what our actual plans are for it in detail, complete with floor plan drawn out.
For now…from my favorite coffeeshop MOD….Peace and love….
