March 1, 2010 Market Street Living....

March 1, 2010.

Hello from Market street ,

So the move is finished. Ten grueling days of beyond physical limitations of moving what I would have preferred to light a match to , however with the collected building materials form the past three years that filled rooms, a two car garage to the brim, an attic the same size and back yard space as well we ended up moving and have much material ready for the new house…all reclaimed. We also moved our regular furniture, house hold items and my many art supplies as well as two eclipse performance cars by trailer and a classic car by trailer….and then some it seems. It took several people, several trips each day and ten days to do all this.
Last night after midnight and one last trip ( even leaving behind some landscaping items) we finally where able to walk the dogs and go to sleep….surrounded by heavy rains in our new home for the first night and man oh man the rain sounds beautiful in there! And no leaks! ( We had already checked for this however).
Our bodies are tired and bruised and I have a hurt hand, banged head and then some but we did survive what goes down in history as my hardest move ever….and never to be done again!
Today I ended up having to take a day of rest and so I sit in our favorite Galveston Island Coffee Shop (MOD) on Post Office Street sipping my hot tea and typing the afternoon away on this rainy day.
Thanks to all of our family and friends who came out and helped, offered trailers and dolly’s as well as their time and muscles or we NEVER would have gotten this done in time. We are forever grateful and owe the same help in return when needed so do not hesitate.
The dogs have been in upheaval over the move ( Now Wrench the Weimaraner at 98 pounds who’s worked himself into a frenzy of anxiousness and lost a few pounds over it, Sobi the Lab/Newfoundland 80-90 at any given time pup and Jolt the 160 pound Newfoundland) they have unfortunately been in fighting mode when given the chance so must be kept pretty separated right now. In the midst of one fight I got my hand bit very badly and thankfully our neighbor in the medical field helped me out on a Saturday night and also got me set with antibiotic for it as well. So we are having to keep them separated and calm as possible….however my own irritated from being tired mood isn’t helping! Haha
So we are now Islanders and have spent our first night in our new home.
To fill any in. We now own the Historical Hughes Building at 2515 Market Street, Galveston Island , Texas. A 6000 thousand square foot building, 3000 up and 3000 down . We will love and convert the completely open floor plan into a living loft for ourselves upstairs and downstairs will be Michael’s shop for Classic Morris ( Door specialist and eco-demo and resale business and we have invited Michael’s dad to join the space for his wooden sailboat building).
I myself am still working currently as area manager and nutritionist of three dog/cat food nutrition stores .
Michael’s business sis getting there, thankfully flexible during this move however and I started his website at classic-morris.com however as you can see it needs a LOT of work yet. I wanted to at least get his business card or something up for when people went to it there would be something there.
In following days, months and now…years we will post photos and updates of Hughes as well as Galveston Island itself.
Three years in our Houston house and in some ways I will miss it but in many…and most, I am so excited about our journey.
Miss and love all, keep in touch and give me your updates,

Peggy
